Revocable Biometrics with Robust Distance Metrics

Revocable Biometrics with Robust distance metrics.
(Recently field preliminary patent, currently working on spin-off company)

A critical issue in biometrics is their impact on privacy. Current biometrics compromise privacy and if the biometric data is ever compromised the loss of privacy is permanent because, unlike a password or Social Security Number, it cannot be changed. Dr Boult has developed an approach that allow biometric data to be converted to a secure but revocable form that still allows the computation of robust distance needed for effective biometric data. A variation supports identification but cannot be used for recognition, i.e. a fingerprint-based biometric that can prove you are you but cannot be used by anyone to look for you in a database or to link two databases. The result is a technique that preserves privacy but can enhance security.
