About About Me:

Nick Niehoff
Computer Science Student
Linux System Administrator (VAST)

About me

I am currently a sophomore at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) majoring in Computer Science. Before college I was an Air Force brat so I have lived all over the U.S. and attended more than 10 K-12 schools. I am currently working as Dr. Boult's System Administrator in the Vision and Security Technology (VAST) Lab at UCCS.

Interests

I must say I am quite the computer geek. I enjoy working in Information Technology (IT) setting up and managing computer networks. I also enjoy web scripting (hate web design however) and programming. I love troubleshooting computer problems whether they are hardware or software related. Besides computers I enjoy movies, hunting, four-wheeling, and hiking (although I don't do this much).

Links

These are some links to websites I visit often or websites of software projects that I use on a regular basis. Google is of course at the top of the list.

  • Google
  • CNN (a good American news site)
  • Fedora
  • Linux Kernel (This is probably the fastest Linux mirror near me)
  • Mozilla (My favorite web browser and mail client)
  • My Yahoo! (I have mine customized to tell me anything and everything I would want to know that might normally be in a newspaper)
  • UCCS (Not a great site but everything UCCS is there)
  • VAST (Of course, I work their)
  • Yahoo! Launch (Good streaming music from the web with commercials, requires Windows :()
