What is?

by Terrance Boult

Oh, what is beauty but that which you are?
And what is love but what I feel for you?
Say, what are miles that love bids not be far?
And what are days if love bids them be through?
It was beauty that made me first draw near
But 'twas your warmth that made me choose to stay.
Yet 'tis myself that I must always fear,
Because I don't always do as I say.
Although the mind thinks, it can't overrule
Decision that are made in the heart.
Because of this, sometimes I act the fool---
When mind and heart disagree on where to start.
And I becomes confused on what to do:
To simply talk or say that I love you.
